Air Peace Launches N250bn Aircraft Maintenance Facility, Set to Create 50,000 Jobs

Air Peace, Nigeria’s biggest privately-owned airline, has taken another giant step towards revolutionizing the aviation industry with the launch of a ₦250 billion Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility in Lagos.

The state-of-the-art project is expected to create over 50,000 direct and indirect jobs, boost local technical expertise, and drastically cut down Nigeria’s reliance on foreign countries for aircraft maintenance.

A Game-Changer for Nigerian Aviation

For years, Nigerian airlines have spent billions of naira on aircraft repairs abroad, draining the country’s foreign exchange. With this facility, Air Peace is set to reverse the trend by providing world-class maintenance services right at home.

The facility will handle both wide-body aircraft like Boeing 777 and smaller regional jets, making it one of the largest and most advanced MRO centres in Africa.

Employment Opportunities

The project will bring massive job opportunities across multiple sectors:

  • Direct Jobs: Engineers, technicians, operators, aviation safety staff, logistics experts, and administrative personnel.
  • Indirect Jobs: Suppliers, security operatives, transport services, catering providers, and local manufacturers.

This initiative will also create avenues for training young Nigerians, equipping them with world-class technical skills in aircraft maintenance.

Economic Benefits

  • Saves foreign exchange by reducing the need to service aircraft abroad.
  • Strengthens Nigeria’s position as an aviation hub in Africa.
  • Attracts international airlines, boosting foreign investment.
  • Stimulates the local economy through supply chains and service industries.
